Behind the Timeline
As an editor based in Northern California, I’ve seen a lot over the years. I’ve edited sizzle, case study, product, commercials, tutorials, BTS, event, social and everything in between. But being in the epicenter of the technology revolution has gotten me very exited about how dynamic websites, devices and apps can supercharge storytelling.
Ideas Per Second
So it was only a matter of time before I started wanting to discuss these ideas with others. So in the winter of 2009, I started Splice Vine - The Unconventional Video Editing Resource. It was a website, newsletter and podcast devoted to video post fundamentals and futurism.
Bringing Pixels to the People
And I eventually took these ideas on the road, giving presentations everywhere from Adobe to The Golden State Warriors and also teaching post-production at City College of San Francisco and Academy of Art University.
The Community Continues
And now it feels like I’ve come full circle.
In Feb. 2024, I along with Roy Wanguhu, co-founded The VINE (Video Industry Networking Event) It's a community of filmmakers, DPs, motion designers, producers, editors, or folks in ANY roles in the California Bay Area video industry. It's the place to be for in-person networking, promotion and inspiration.
So this through-line of ideas and community will continue to keep me curious and engaged as we enter this brave new world of AI. But I know that as creators we will thrive and use it as another tool to supercharge our storytelling now and into the future.
